We are happy to introduce the new terminology portal. We hope that the new portal will prove every bit as popular as the old one, and that you will all become familiar with it within a short period of time and make full use of the advantages it offers over the old portal.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or suggestions: Tina Steuerwald,tsteuerwald@sdl.com
The assistance function for the new portal will help you find your way at the start. To access the assistance function, activate the "?" icon in the topmost bar.
The SDL terminology portal has been set up to allow Bosch Group employees to find translations of terms in various languages. Ensuring the consitant use of terminology, the terminology portal contains terms compiled by a group of terminologists from Bosch, SDL and Star.
Both a source and a target language can be selected. The default setting for the source language is "German" and for the target language "all languages".
After finding the terms you are looking for, you can print them out using your browser's print function.
SDL and STAR checked the linguistic correctness and spelling of all entries for the terminology database. Stylistic aspects of terminology selection have been ignored.
When terms are sent to us, we check them carefully before entering them intp the online database. This can lead to delays as we want to ensure and provide the highest high-quality of terminology work - anything less than this would be more of a hindrance than a help to you in your work.
How to find terms in the application is self-explanatory. You simply enter the term you are looking for without making any online changes or adding new terms. However, we do want to receive feedback from you so that the existing terminology can be expanded. Please use the "Feedback" button for this purpose. This will open a form in which you can give us your contact details as well as stating your concerns about the terminology. Please be as specific as possible.
The actual change itself is entered in the terminology portal used jointly by both SDL and Star and will be available online within a very short period of time.
In order to keep the administrative outlay as low as possible, please send ideas for new terminology etc. to use using the Feedback button only.
The link to the Bosch Intranet site "Translation tools" offers you further search options.
One decisive benefit of this online terminology is how up-to-date it is. However, if you still need the complete terminology list for a specific language for a specific business division in Excel or Word format, just let us know what format you require using the Feedback button. We will then send you the terminology list which is valid at the time of your request.
